DanceArt Inc. - Artist Services
Fiscal Sponsorship Program
DanceArt acts as fiscal receiver for independent artists or small non-incorporated companies whose work is in alignment with its mission and goals. Partial list of fiscally-sponsored artists or projects: Claire Alexander, Ecstatic Productions; The Moving Center School, Eric Kupers, Dandelion Dancetheater; Damon Mahoney; Robin Strayhorn, Barbara Borden, Ellen Bauer; Dance Ceres; Amy Seiwert’s Imagery

Bay Wide Audition
An annual open-call, professional audition for dancers and choreographers. Dancers are put through their paces, and then choreographers teach short sections of their own work to the dancers. In this way, the dancers also get a real sense of what it would be like to work for a particular artist, and the audition is really bi-lateral. All participants receive email biographies and contact information about the entire group. The real goal is to put artists in touch with each other for future projects.

Bang for the Buck
The Finale of the Bay Wide Audition. Dancers perform one-minute dances, the audience votes for their favorite, and that dancer walks away with $1,000 cash.

ArtsMarketPlace
A “speed-dating” event for choreographers and composers where each artist presents a snippet of his or her work, discusses work process and artistic goals, and then has a chance to exchange contact information with artists of interest.

Choreographers & Artistic Directors Photo Shoot
Annual photo shoot (usually before the Isadora Duncan Dance Awards presentation) where choreographers gather for a documentary photo.

Community Photo Shoot
DanceArt hires a dance photographer (usually Marty Sohl), rents a theater with appropriate lighting capabilities, and then organizes 30-minute to one-hour slots for choreographers to have their work photographed onstage. This program was developed in response to a request directly from local print media for better artwork from the dance community.
The performing arts are simply the most expensive kind of art to produce, and DanceArt Inc. is committed to supporting choreographers with seamless, professional, technical and administrative support.
